If I was able to star in a movie, I think I'd choose something like XXX: State of the Union. The reason for that is the movie is playground. So, by starring in the movie, I get play around with all that stuff. OK, Steve, dream a little dream.
In movieworld, Ice Cube is the guy who gets to drive the killer cars and play with the toys in XXX: State of the Union.
"It was definitely a blast," says Cube. "And it's definitely refreshing to work [with director Lee Tamahori] because he knows exactly what he wants and how these things are going to work. He's like a mad scientist when it comes to putting these things together. We loaded with toys: cars, tanks, trains, planes, guns, missiles, high-tech gadgetry and house-leveling explosions. It's a techno-armory basically just have to kind of come in and execute his game plan. It's been a great experience working with these guys and I know we've come up with a great movie."
Cube, of course, isn't the only one with the weaponry. His co-stars Scott Speedman (Underworld) and Xzibit (8 Mile) also get to dodge bullets and return fire.
"It's the most action I've ever done," says Speedman. "That stuff we shot in Baltimore, running around, it's probably the most fun I've had on a movie. Jumping over gates and shooting guns. We had a little bit of training for it, but once you get on set you have to do it for real and it's a whole new ball game. It was fun getting used to that."
What we have for you today is a first look at the guys filming a scene on the set of XXX: State of the Union. Here, Cube (as Agent Darius Stone), Speedman (as Agent Kyle Steele) and Xzibit (as Zeke, a member of Darius' old special forces unit) take cover behind a bullet-ridden car. At this point in the story, Gen. George Octavius Deckert's (Willem Dafoe) operatives have taken the President hostage and they're putting up a strong offensive. So the guys momentarily congregate. When Xzibit says, "And I told you, if it got wheels we can jack it!" He's talking about the tank rolling their way.
